Hi, I’m Mick and welcome to Insideout Mastery – your personal development resource to gain clarity, create momentum, build unshakable confidence, and rewrite your life story.
Do you feel stuck in a rut, wondering about the meaning and purpose of your life?
If so, you’re not alone.
I also fought many internal battles, struggling with a lack of direction, motivation, and self-confidence.
And I’ve learned one thing: you CAN change and create a more fulfilling life!
On Insideout Mastery, I guide you on the transformative journey of self-discovery and personal mastery. The question is: Are you ready to embrace the life you’ve always dreamed of?
It’s time to say YES to more fulfillment, meaning, and joy!
The mission
To empower those who feel stuck or lost to discover their purpose, lean into their potential, and craft a more authentic life story.
Our values for a good life
You’re without a doubt in the right place if you seek:
- Personal growth: We love to learn, improve, and level up ourselves and our skills to unleash our full potential.
- Authenticity: We prioritize self-discovery, individuality, and well-being over instant gratification and external validation.
- Autonomy: We take charge of our lives through responsibility, hard work, embracing challenges, and seeking continuous growth.
- Meaning: We live in alignment with our values and purpose to do meaningful work, build deeper connections, make a difference, and experience more joy.
My backstory and how it all started
Despite having a good education, growing up in a middle-class household, and good friends, I struggled with myself as an introvert (trying to be an extrovert) and the direction for my life.
But I couldn’t figure out how to move forward. I had:
- No direction and purpose: I simply went through the daily motions, unsure what to do or how to make myself useful;
- No motivation or discipline: Video games were my favorite way to escape reality, fueled by unhealthy lifestyle habits and too much alcohol over the weekends.
- No confidence: Fear and the need for constant approval and external validation kept me inside my shell and shattered my self-esteem and confidence.
Fortunately, I knew one thing.
There had to be more to life than my current experience.
And although I was clueless about what I wanted, I knew what I wanted to avoid: Living a mediocre life filled with regrets, wondering “what if” for the rest of my life.
Instead, I longed for meaning, freedom, and joy – and kept wondering:
- What if I could wake up feeling excited about the day?
- What if I could become more confident?
- What if I could achieve success?
But how…?
Unfortunately, like many lost teenage boys, I began idolizing men with big muscles, stunning women, and material possessions like Lambo’s, yachts, and penthouses.
Surely, they could teach me the secrets to a good life.
As a result, I focused on short-term shenanigans and instant gratification in pursuit of external success.
From playing poker to try and get rich to attending real estate seminars and jumping onto the latest get-rich-quick schemes. And from building muscle to become more attractive to faking confidence with shortsighted tactics, hoping any girl would fall for me.
I felt even more hopeless…
Instead of focusing on improvements and mastery, I focused on finding the ultimate hack to achieve results fast – thinking that would lead to confidence, success, and happiness.
BIG mistake.
I tried to escape the rat race but, in doing so, had created my own hamster wheel, running hard but getting absolutely nowhere. And as a result, I only felt more frustrated and helpless…
Fortunately, it wasn’t all for nothing.
Although I wasted years of my life, I did realize that…
Success starts within
This insight changed everything. I stopped chasing external validation and started pursuing success from the inside out.
That meant:
- Defining my own definition of success – not my perception of success influenced by social media.
- Discovering who I am, what’s most important to me, who I want to become, and what I want to contribute to the world.
- Focusing on consistent personal growth, one step at a time.
- And developing fundamental skills rather than pursuing tactics.
Within a few years, I transformed myself from not knowing what to do to being in control of my life.
My confidence skyrocketed, and I felt motivated to get out of bed. I found meaning in my work and learned valuable skills. And I developed more meaningful relationships.
Life became joyful and exciting again.
The result?
Fast-forward to today, I earn more as a freelancer than I could imagine years ago.
It enables me to live anywhere and provides the freedom I’ve always desired. Plus, I spend more time on what’s most meaningful to me, including this website.
I’ve also improved my communication skills and learned how to use my superpowers as an introvert instead of feeling anxious in social settings.
Finally, I transformed my body and feel more energetic than ever before. Better yet, I feel good inside my body.
Why am I telling you this?
To show you what’s possible if you seek progress in pursuit of mastery instead of pursuing short-term tactics and quick fixes.
I’m just in one of the earlier chapters of my life’s story…
There are still many obstacles to overcome, personal growth to experience, skills to learn, and things I want to create and share.
And, on this website, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned to help you get unstuck and achieve self-mastery.
Some of the most essential lessons I’ve learned so far
- Living your best life is a journey – not a destination. As soon as you reach your goals, you’ll want more, be more, and achieve more. Instead, start living your best life every day – and start TODAY.
- Success is more than a number in your bank account. The secret to a successful life is leaning into who you are, what you love, and standing up for the change you wish to see.
- The “best way to…” is terrible advice. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to living your best life. Instead, there are a gazillion ways to succeed. And the best way is to figure out what’s best for you.
- Going to college is a terrible idea IF you’re not sure what you want to do in life. Instead, take time to try stuff out, explore the world, and accumulate experiences to gain more clarity.
- The process is the outcome. Stop chasing fast success and avoid sacrificing your well-being and mental health for external results. Instead, discover what matters to you and rewrite your life story on your own terms.
These lessons form the foundation of Insideout Mastery.
A few final notes
What’s funny is that I would look up to someone with my story back in the day and be a little jealous…
Being able to work from anywhere, having freedom and flexibility, and doing meaningful work? That was my dream.
It just wasn’t as far-fetched as I imagined.
But I had to STOP seeking external validation, instant gratification, and quick results.
And START identifying who I was, and what I wanted, setting clear goals, and taking action in pursuit of skill and self-mastery.
It will NOT happen overnight.
But if you focus on your authentic path, grow a little bit every day, take consistent action, and fall in love (or at least have patience) with the process, anything is possible.
It’s up to YOU to make your life a remarkable and exciting journey.
And hopefully, my story inspires you to start from within and focus on personal growth to create a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Welcome on the journey to mastery.
All the best,
Mick
